SingaPlural 2015 : Lasvit - From Process of Design to Designing a Process by Maxim Velcovsky
Maxim Velčovský, a leading Czech designer and Lasvit‘s Art Director, uncovers the story behind his creations. Maxim is renowned for his focus on material and its metamorphosis. The Frozen collection was inspired by the transformation of water into ice, the Snow Vases by moulding snow into vase forms and creating plaster casts. Vase of Vases features imprints of several historic patterns. His recent Kindred Spirits glass sculpture, designed for Lasvit, symbolically commemorates the historic buildings that once stood in its location. Velčovský‘s vision, creative process and aesthetics far exceed mere decorative purpose, teaching us to look and think differently.
Having participated in ninety joint exhibitions, Velčovský works are included in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, The New Pinakothek in Munich, and the Design Museum in Lausanne. In 2011, Velcovsky became the Art Director of Lasvit.
